S2E15. Embracing Complexity: The Essential Guide to Edit Intelligence

Episode Summary

One of the best things any editor can do outside of learning every single area of our craft is train their mind in high levels of complexity. The ability to not only see huge amounts of variation within any set of raw footage but to plan and strategise how it should be constructed is a very well sought after skill in the creative editing world.

Episode Notes

On this week's show I'm going to break down and talk through all of the advantages to this perishable skill and show that there are many art forms that can teach us how to embrace complexity.

This is not something to be intimidated by and run from, it's something to study, learn and weave into our narrative skills. We want to be known as an editor who can handle any situation from the simplistic all the way to the highly problematic.
