S1E8. Method Editing: Cutting in Character

Episode Summary

We’ve got a great episode for you this week. A question I get asked so often by many editors is "How do you watch a sequence dozens of times and still have the same enthusiasm and emotional distance from it to make it perfect?” This is a very difficult issue for so many editors and it certainly was for me in the early days of my career.

Episode Notes

In this episode I talk through a trick that I picked up and adapted from what was going to be my then career... acting. This mental technique allowed me to conquer the very problem of watching something so many times over and not become burnt out by the footage. It’s a really interesting subject and I dive deep into the history and psychology around it in this week’s show.
